You may never have used Katchik. This page explains what happens to your TikTok username when a creator you follow sends us their follower list, and what you can do about it.
Why we have your username
Katchik runs free rounds in which players follow a featured creator on TikTok. In some rounds, after the round closes, the featured creator sends us their follower list, exported from TikTok's "Download your data"; when no export is possible, our team copies the list from the creator's public profile. We use it for one purpose: checking which players of that round follow the creator.
What we keep
We read only the usernames in the list and the date each follow started. The creator's export also contains other profile data of theirs, which we do not read or keep. Each username becomes a keyed code the moment the file arrives, and the file itself is never kept. Of the follow dates we keep only the earliest and the latest. We never contact you, never build a profile of you and never share the list.
How long
The codes and the key that makes them are destroyed 30 days after the round ends, and at the latest 60 days after its result. The round's public record keeps only a fingerprint of the codes and the number of rows, which cannot be turned back into usernames.
Where it is kept and who sees it
The codes, and any dispute screenshot, are stored only in Katchik's database, hosted by Railway Corporation in its US East region (Virginia), under the safeguards set out in section 6 of our Privacy Policy (the EU-US Data Privacy Framework with its UK Extension, and the Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum). Only Katchik's team and that hosting provider can reach them.
Screenshots sent in disputes
A player who disputes their answer sends a screenshot of their own TikTok Following list, which may show other accounts, yours included. Only Katchik's team sees it, to decide that dispute, and it is deleted 30 days after the round ends, and at the latest 60 days after its result.
Our legal basis
We rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR and the UK GDPR): running a fair round whose result anyone can check. A username alone gives us no way to reach you individually, so this page is how we inform you (Article 14(5)(b)).
Your rights
You can ask whether your code is in a list we hold, object to this use or ask us to delete your code: write to privacy@katchik.com with your TikTok username. While the key exists we can find your code and delete it; once a round's list has been checked, its fingerprint stays on the public record, but your code is not used again. We answer within one month. Your other rights, and how to use them, are in our Privacy Policy.
You can also complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr), the authority for Katchik in France, to the UK ICO (ico.org.uk), or to the data protection authority where you live.
